Sermon: Hard to Believe – Rev. Dr. Nate Phillips
Today we begin a four week series on the four gospels, coinciding with our fall sermon-based small groups. The gospel of Mark is widely considered to be the first gospel written and is peppered with words like immediate and amazement. In Mark, Jesus finds the disciples especially frustrating—they never seem to get it. The Messianic Secret, a key Marcan motif, offers an example of this truth. Today we learn more about why Jesus says "don't tell anyone about me" and what that means for us today. We are excited that today will include our first pilot service of our 5:30 p.m. Dinner Church and we hope you will RSVP for a future feedback opportunity on November 11 or December 9. Contact Chris Hallam, Resident Minister, at firstname.lastname@example.org to register!
Text: Mark 8:30 – He sternly ordered them not to tell anyone about him.
Bulletins: 8:00 a.m. | 9:15 & 11:00 a.m.
