Rev. William L. (Tres) Adams III
Associate Pastor - Children, Youth and Families

Rev. Tres AdamsWhile his given name is William Lincoln Adams III, our Associate Pastor for Children, Youth and Families goes by his lifelong nickname of "Tres.” Tres graduated from Allegheny College in 1999 with a BA in Communication Arts and an extensive minor in Economics, where he was also the chaplain of his fraternity.  He spent several years in the corporate environment, working in telecommunications, medical sales, and market making and supplier management for an international online auction house.

Tres has been working with youth for over 13 years in a variety of capacities. While in college, Tres began working with youth as a summer camp counselor at a Presbyterian Church (USA) sponsored camp and retreat center. He volunteered with his home church's youth program and eventually worked part-time as Youth Facilitator.  It was during his work with youth in his home church, Center Presbyterian Church in McMurray, Pennsylvania, that Tres finally decided to answer God's call to ordained ministry and enrolled in classes at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Tres graduated with a Masters of Divinity in 2010.

During his tenure in seminary, Tres continued his work with youth. He worked part-time as a coach at Chartiers Valley High School near Pittsburgh and served as the Head 9th Grade Football Coach and Assistant Indoor and Outdoor Track Coach. Tres also served as Director of Youth Ministries at Shadyside Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh for three years where he was responsible for the Junior High and Senior High youth programs as well as the bi-annual Confirmation program. During this tenure, he had the privilege of writing the curriculum and designing the current confirmation program.

Tres has spent much of his spiritual journey serving the church. He is an ordained deacon and an elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA), and served as a Theological Student Advisory Delegate to the 217th General Assembly. Tres has also participated on and led a number of domestic and international short-term mission trips including Mohawk Reservation, Navajo Nation, Mars Hill, NC, Bluefield, WV, Monessen, PA, Niagara Falls, NY, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, and Haiti.

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Tres is a "diehard Steelers' fan." Tres' parents live in the Pittsburgh area and he has two younger sisters who live in Chicago and Atlanta respectively. Tres married his lovely wife Vionna in the summer of 2010. In his spare time, Tres is an avid runner and has completed several marathons and numerous half marathons.

Tres shows his enthusiasm for youth ministry and sees himself as a "Jesus Coach."  He has a warm, easy sense of humor and exhibits integrity when working with youth and family.  Tres can
