The Good Shepherd Orphange
Carrefour, Haiti
The Chancel Choir and Orchestra of Kirk in the Hills proudly present a concert to benefit the Good Shepherd Orphanage, Carrefour, Haiti (near Port-au-Prince). The concert will be presented in the beautiful Kirk sanctuary. There is no admission charge; all proceeds from the free-will offering will benefit the orphanage, which was destroyed in the recent earthquake.
Under the direction Glenn Miller, Kirk Director of Music, the concert will feature the Requiem
by Gabriel Fauré, one of the most beloved and comforting works in the choral repertoire, along with other works by Fauré, Samuel Barber (including his famous Adagio for Strings) and a work
by Austin, Texas composer Eliza Gilkyson (Requiem) which was inspired by the 2004 Asian tsunami.

The Kirk Chancel Choir is acclaimed as one of the finest church choirs in the metropolitan Detroit region. Comprised of both professional and amateur singers, the Choir will be augmented by additional singers and leading orchestral players from the region who wish to contribute their talents to this benefit event.
Kirk in the Hills has been a strong supporter of the Good Shepherd Orphanage for over thirty years. Although the physical structure of the Orphanage was destroyed during the January earthquake, miraculously, all of the children who were residents survived.
All are welcome to attend this benefit concert! For further information, contact Glenn Miller in the Kirk Music Office, (248) 626-2515, ext. 109, by email at gmiller@kirkinthehills.org.
