Good Shepherd Orphanage - Carrefour, Haiti

GSO Children receive gifts from MichiganUPDATE: Just one year after the devastating earthquake, the children of the Good Shepherd Orphanage of Haiti are safe and living in dormi-tories!  They are experiencing a renewal of faith and inner healing. All are well and their food supply is secure as the protective wall around the orphanage in Carrefour is now complete. The next step will be restoring buildings that  are used for the school.  One large building escaped damage from the earthquake and is being used as a church. The present church
will be torn down as it is condemned. On that site a church annex and large Sunday school will be built to teach the Word of God to all ages. Rebuilding a church has been identified as the most important mission project for the Kirk financial assistance and future mission trip in coordination with other supportive churches.

David Zimmer, treasurer of the GSO Foundation, has returned from his November 2010 mission trip to Haiti. The pictures of life at the orphanage are now on the GSO website at
www.gsohaiti.com. Soon we will be able to communicate with the orphanage via the internet thanks to the new satellite!

For those who would like to make a financial contribution, here are two suggested options:

Child receives food from GSO Foundation1.  To make a contribution to Good Shepherd
Orphanage
, send a check to the Kirk Office, made
payable either to Good Shepherd Orphanage, or to Kirk
in the Hills (designated for Good Shepherd Orphanage).
We will forward those funds to the GSO Foundation.

2.  To make a contribution to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, you may also send your check to the Kirk Office, made payable to Kirk in the Hills (designated for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance - Haiti), and we will
forward those funds to the Presbyterian Church (USA) indicating disaster relief assistance for Haiti.

Feel free to use a pew envelope to make your contribution, and drop it in the offering plate. You may also mail your check to the Kirk in the Hills, 1340 W. Long Lake Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI, 48302, or drop it off at the front
office during normal weekday business hours.
