Men of the Kirk
Men of the Kirk (made up of all men who are members of the Kirk) offer programs of study, service and fellow-ship. The men seek to deepen their faith through Bible study, prayer, attending annual retreats (next retreat is scheduled for January of 2011) and serving others while caring for one another in times of challenge - as well as fostering fellowship.
For more information about Men of the Kirk activities, please contact Jim Devlin at jdevlin@williams-int.com.
"2010 Man of the Year" - Jim Devlin
Each year, the Men of the Kirk recognize one man as "Man
of the Year." The award is based on outstanding service to
the Kirk over many years. Past recipients include George
Smith, Mel Noonan, Val Corradi, Bob Siefert, Monte Clark,
Larry Biehl and Don Guthrie.
In December of 2010, Jim Devlin was named Man of the Year and was presented a gift in recognition of his involvement at the Kirk in many, many capacities. Jim has served as Elder twice, Habitat for Humanity leader, Usher, head of Acolytes, Sunday School teacher, Confirmation Class sponsor, and is involved in many other activities. Congratulations, Jim!
Usher Corps
There are teams of ushers for both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. sanctuary service, responsible for accompanying worshippers to their seats, collecting the offering, gathering extra bulletins from the pews, helping the pastors after the service, and assisting worshippers who may have health concerns during the service. Ushers also direct traffic in the parking lots before and after services, and serve at memorial services and special events/concerts.
Men of the Kirk also offer informal tours of the sanctuary at 12:10 p.m each Sunday (immediately following the conclusion of the 11:00 a.m. service).
The Usher Corps is often a new member's first involvement with Kirk activities, building great friendships in the process. Many men have ushered for decades with the same crew.
