Kirk Life Ministries - Get Involved!
Audio-Visual Ministry
The Audio-Visual Ministry supports the Kirk's mission by assisting with the A-V equipment, recording both audio and
video versions of our sermons in the sanctuary service, and
audio sermons in the St. Andrew's service each week. These volunteers make it possible to post audio and video clips on
our website's multimedia center (click on "Latest Sermon"), enabling us to share these messages with Kirk members who may be out of town or homebound, as well as visitors to our
site from around the world. This ministry also provides CDs
and DVDs of our services for Kirk members that request them. For more information about this exciting ministry, or if you
would like to join this dedicated group of volunteers, please contact Kim Lyon at lyonkm@aol.com.
Volunteer Receptionists
Volunteers are an integral part of any ministry. At Kirk in the Hills,
one way you can be part of the life of the congregation is to volunteer your time as a receptionist. You need not have any special skills,
only a love for Christ and a willingness to serve. Those who serve as receptionists are essential in the ministry of the Kirk as they assist
the ministers, staff, members and visitors. Being involved in this way can be very fulfilling and enjoyable, as for many, your voice will be
their first introduction to the Kirk and for others the only contact they may ever have.
If you have an interest and would be willing to volunteer your time, please call or e-mail Jayne Zellers, 248-626-2515, ext. 110 or jzellers@kirkinthehills.org with the subject line "Receptionist Volunteer" and specify the day and time you would be able to volunteer. Thank you!
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild is responsible for displaying and caring for the altar flowers and other memorial flowers throughout the church. Each week guild members keep the arrangements fresh and lovely for all to enjoy. Volunteers work once a month and set
their own schedule during the week, making it very convenient even with a busy schedule. The guild also decorates the church for the Christmas season with wreaths and poinsettias, and arranges the lilies for the Easter celebration. Volunteers are always needed, and no previous floral arranging skills or knowledge are necessary. For more information, email
Marsha Rogers at rogersmarsha2@netscape.net.
Garden Guild
The Kirk is blessed with beautiful grounds that need care year-round. If you love the great outdoors and have a "green thumb," the Garden Guild needs you! We help with fall and spring clean-ups, and planting as needed with our clippers, rakes and shovels - and we have a great time! For more information, contact Katherine Brandon at kmbrandon@comcast.net.
After Service Tours
Men of the Kirk offer informal tours of the sanctuary at 12:10 p.m each Sunday (immediately following the conclusion of the 11:00 a.m. service). Just come to the right front of the sanctuary to begin the tour. All visitors are welcome.
Docents
Docents welcome visitors to the Kirk by means of scheduled tours given during the week. They guide groups of all sizes from clubs, schools, churches and senior centers through the facilities displaying the features of the Kirk, such as art, tapestries and architecture. If you are interested in a guided tour, or in being a part of this ministry, please email Tiffany Uhl at tuhl@kirkinthehills.org with the subject line "Tour."
Open Door Volunteers
Open Door volunteers welcome visitors to the sanctuary on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. until noon, and from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. for prayer, meditation and a time of solace. Volunteers are needed, only a smile and a love for Jesus are required. For more information or to become a volunteer, please email Tiffany Uhl at tuhl@kirkinthehills.org with the subject line "Open Door."
