Stephen Ministers

Stephen Ministry BannerStephen Ministers are members of our congregation who have
received caregiver training to minister to people experiencing a
crisis, facing a challenge, or simply going through a tough time.
They are available after services to offer brief prayer and possibly scripture to those members and friends that would like additional support. You may also contact Laura Ambrose at (248) 952-5186
to initiate a caring relationship with a Stephen Minister.

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give
you rest."   -Matthew 11:28

Stephen Ministry Update: Nine Stephen Ministers from the Kirk recently participated in a care giving
continuing education retreat day, an annual event hosted by the Stephen Ministry Network of SE Michigan.  Our team of caregivers joined with 250 other Stephen Ministers from 40 parishes throughout Southeastern Michigan for this event.  This seminar was focused on building and maintaining healthy relationships and was led by noted pastor, psychologist and author, Dr. David Ludwig and his wife, Kathy.  The insights and skills acquired by our Stephen Ministers at this event will enable them to provide a heightened level of care to those in need. Gathering with this large group from 10 Christian denominations, who all serve their parishes through this mutual ministry was, in itself, affirmation that we do NOT serve alone.  This is a service by-and-for-people of varied Christian backgrounds, coming together, celebrating the one common denominator: "Christ, caring for people through people."

Prayer Cordon

Prayer Cordon
This group of volunteers meet weekly to pray for those
in need and/or for those who have made specific prayer requests (chronic illnesses, family issues, emotional concerns, hospitalizations, births, deaths). The Kirk
staff maintains a list of individuals in need of our prayers. Meetings are held every Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
in the Fireside Room in the Kirk house. All Kirk members
are invited to attend and join the Prayer Cordon in this important ministry.
